To make an electric skateboard the first thing I did was to decide on a configuration and look at what other projects have done in the space to see what parts I may need. Having studied engineering at University, I was confident with the five key components
as seen below. The drive train (motor), the electronic speed controller (ESC), the trasmitter/reciever (TX/RX) and the battery.
From there, I decided on a parts list and followed the diagram above. For the ESC I went with a VESC, an open source project that aims to unlock advanced software and hardware implementations of cutting edge electric power systems and put them in the hands of developers.
I prepared a presentation to show the planning and final project.
